Back to School - What’s in it for me?
This weekend we visited my family up in New York, a last minute trip to enjoy those last few days (hours!) of summer. My sister got engaged (congrats Kelly and Vince!), I got a mani/pedi with my mom, saw my extended family at a BBQ and we ALL saw the Blue Man Group in New York City. Needless to say it was an emotional good-bye for me because I miss them all so much!
Upon our return, school started back up for my kids and I was still on a bit of an emotional roller coaster. So many good-byes in the past few days! I can’t say I loved EVERY minute of summer (let’s be real- it’s a lot of togetherness) but I do love cooking meals on the fly, not making school lunches and not having the daily grind of carting my kids from activity to activity after school, homework, etc.
Last week I wrote about what I am going to do for my family to get our days started off right but this week I wondered- what am I going to do for myself? I recently joined Orangetheory (the hype is true- it’s awesome) but I can only do that 1-2x per week because the schedule just does not jive with mine! So for the month of September I’ve joined a program called 99 Walks! It is a completely doable program and the best part is, you can bring your kids along with you! The goal for me is to walk 33 miles in September- totally attainable, manageable, simple…and just for me! For less than 3 Starbucks coffees, you can join a community of like-minded people who want to better themselves one step at a time. You even get a cute, on trend necklace at the end if you meet your goal!
Moms, dads, caregivers…if you’re up for it, join me! A few walking buddies would be great and I’d love to hear how you like the program. I’ll be documenting my journey this month so stay tuned. Click here if you want to join! Cheers to adding YOU to the list of people you take care of this month!
Best,
Alicia
