Marie from Confetti Teepees has all the info you need to plan a successful and fun party!

By Maria Alves November 6, 2019

Planning a kids party can be stressful, and there's so much to consider. Where should you have it? What kind of food should you serve? How on earth are you going to entertain all those kids? But there's no need to stress -- children are easy to please. "More often than not, kids just want to play with their friends" so don't stress about making every detail perfect.

1. Choose location.

If you don't have the room or the inclination to host the party at home, there are plenty of places you can go instead, but you should book this type of party several months in advance if possible because good places fill up quickly, especially those that can only host one party at a time. If you choose to avoid the pre-planned party route such as Build-a-Bear or bowling, consider privately owned recreation rooms (possibly owned by a church or firehouse), a park, or even your local daycare center. These are great places because they are generally closed for normal business on the weekends, parents can often hire the staff to work the party, plus the kids are comfortable because it is a place they are familiar with. Others places we can suggest includes indoor amusement centers, the bowling alley, movie theater, local park, trampoline indoor parks

2. Choose a theme.

Get creative. Regardless of your theme, there are lots of places to go for inspiration like Pinterest. No matter where you hold the party, the theme is something your child is going to want to be involved with, so make sure to get their input and look to their favorite activities, characters or sports for inspiration.

Order party favors and decorations may help you avoid impulse purchases partyinacinch.com provides you with numerous convenient solutions by delivering beautifully designed and stylish décor right to your door. All you have to do is set it up and voilà, and the best part? 3. Set financial boundaries.

Decide exactly how much money are you willing and able to spend on this get-together. Set your budget early and stick to it as closely as possible. If you are planning with someone else, this is an important detail to agree

4. Select the day and time.

Once you have your guest list, get to work on securing a date and location for the party—the earlier the better. Wunderlist and Evernote are great party planner apps that got almost all the features to help you make your event successful. The APP lets you craft a list of all the things you have to do perfectly on time. Then after, you can keep an eye on them and be able to carry out your tasks as expected.

5. Prepare invitations.

Invite only as many kids as you can handle or, if you can, get some help from family and friends. For preschoolers, invite your child's entire class to avoid hurt feelings if you can accommodate everyone. It's okay to stick with close friends for older kids. You can also keep the guest list down by having an all-boys or all-girls party. Use free digital invites Evite.com offers free online invitation options that eliminate the cost of printed and mailed invitation

6. Plan the food.

Stick to the basics for kids' parties, you can't go wrong with pizza, cake and ice cream. For an at-home party, go with finger foods you can set up ahead of time and serve at room temperature, like mini sandwiches or you can order from chickfilla.com .Prepare foods like chicken nuggets, small sandwiches, hot dogs, bagels,  vegetables dip and fruit on skewers these are all great choices and kid-favorites. They are also quick to prepare and are likely to please your adult guests. The reality is, this is one area you can probably not have to worry about spending a lot of money. Chances are your little guests won't eat that much — so occupied will they be with all the excitement of the day.

Another option is using this app called “BigNight” - especially if you are planning to serve super delicious foods for the adults, the app comes with super handy featured menus that will help you create a list with ease. There is a built-in browser to let you import recipes from different sites.

Create shopping lists to ensure you don’t forget to buy all the things you need. You can add a reminder to any tasks so that you can complete them in time. Moreover, you will also share your special menu with your guests and friends via Facebook and Twitter.

7. Location Preparation.

If you are having the party at home, make sure you have cleaned up and organized at least a day or two before. In the final hours before the party, you will be decorating, setting up games, and making sure the mood is right when guests arrive. Make sure that the lighting is appropriate. Check the restrooms for extra toilet paper, tissue and soap. I’ve found that home parties are usually cheaper, but you need activities for the kids like swimming, games, or a movie. Outdoor games are very beneficial to get energy out if the weather permits If your child decide to host sleepover party, just be prepared for the long haul with lots of ideas for activities and food.

Make sure you make a plan, however, if the kids are older, they tend to take care of their own activities. When  choosing sleepovers they  usually watch a movie, play on electronics, swim and play outdoors or you can do a spin on the classic sleepover by hiring a Glamorous sleepover party company, they set up the party and next day will return to collect. The party will be set up with air mattresses, teepees or tents, buntings, fairy lights, and snacks that can be eaten picnic-style. Confettiteepees.com

8. Have Plenty of Activities to entertain

The most important thing is keeping the kids busy. Craft stations that fit your theme and classic games like musical chairs or the "freeze dance" work great. Call crafters for entertaining like the dcmadscience.org for painting and slime or girly spa uskidsspa.com

9. Pick out fun favors

Hand out goody bags at the end, as the children leave, so you greatly reduce the chance of lost items or misunderstandings. There are plenty of options — if you are having a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party, for example, purchase favors related to that theme — stickers, notepads, pens, and more at all different price points.

If you aren't thrilled with the idea of buying a bunch of small toys, go with nontraditional party favors from Discount School Supply, which sells great toys that come in multiples of 12. Useful or educational items like art kits, books, puzzles and notepads are good choices. Or have the kids make their own favors. Many arts and crafts projects can serve as both an activity and a take-home gift item, It’s also a nice remembrance of the event.

10. And finally…relax—it’s a party!

Although it should be obvious, when you're in the thick of it, it’s hard to remember that parents are supposed to be having fun, too. Some parents feel like their child's party needs to be the BEST, If you celebrate your child in a fun environment, it will be! Also keep in mind, if you go with a party venue, you’re in expert hands. Let the staff do the work and stress out on your behalf.
