Ingredients:

  • 5 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • About 9 cups of apples (8-10 medium apples)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 egg white
  • Two uncooked pie crusts

Directions:

  1. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples; add to a large bowl.
  2. Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter together with apples.
  3. Roll out and place an uncooked pie crust in the bottom of a deep 9-inch pie plate.
  4. Add the apple mixture on top of the pie crust.
  5. Place the second pie crust on top and press down gently, marrying both crust edges together (I fold the bottom crust over the top crust, making a folded look).
  6. Beat the egg white in a small bowl, then gently brush a thin layer of egg white on the top pie crust.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour.
  8. If the crust starts to look brown, cover with tin foil.
  9. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream.
