Camp Learn Well is part of Learn Well, a place where children are recognized for their strengths, supported through their challenges, and empowered to learn in ways that make sense to them. Learn Well provides personalized academic therapy grounded in the science of how students learn best. Our approach is rooted in structured, multisensory methods that support students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences in developing essential skills in reading, writing, and math. We provide one-on-one academic therapy services throughout the year in reading, spelling, writing, and math.
Learn Well’s focus on academic needs is the foundation of Camp Learn Well. Camp Learn Well provides engaging, academic therapy-level instruction during the summer for rising 3rd through 8th graders. This camp is perfect for students who struggle with writing and/or math. This approach works for all learners; students do not need a diagnosis of dyslexia or dyscalculia to receive help! Sessions consist of small-group instruction (with groups at a 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio), with students receiving direct, multisensory instruction supplemented by corresponding projects and activities that support the concepts covered. Throughout the day, campers will receive explicit instruction in a supportive, small-group environment and make connections between the "real world" and academics.
Camp Learn Well has two 2-week camps, with the first session running July 6-17, and the second session running July 13-24. Wrangling Writing will be taught in the morning, 9-12, and Multisensory Math will be covered in the afternoon, 1-4. Parents may choose a half day (am or pm) or a full day (9-4), which includes lunchtime and yoga or other preferred activities.
Wrangling Writing students will learn parts of speech and grammar usage to improve descriptive writing, receive scaffolded writing support for informational, narrative, and expositional writing styles, and flex their creative writing muscles, learning fundamental writing skills.
Multisensory Math students will develop and solidify numeracy, number sense, and measurement skills, learn foundational mathematics skills necessary for progression to algebra, and receive small-group instruction, resulting in a deeper conceptual understanding.
